Heavenly Opens over 50% on 2nd day!

So last week I purchased a Nikon D7000. For the most part so far I have been messing with the video because its effing sweet! An edit will be coming soon. But this week I started shooting pictures with it. Its fast and sharp, can't wait to get the season going in full swing!

On Wednesday, November 24 Heavenly opened all of the terrain on the Cali side with over 5 feet of snow. I got the opportunity to go out and ride and shoot some of it before going to work. Here are a few shots.

Falling Behind

So I went to class today and realized that I am getting a little behind in photo requirements. So I went home and knocked out two of the assignments.

I decided to shoot my room mate Dave and his stapled elbow. He recently had surgery and the Doc cut a nasty gash on his arm. This photo covers the portrait requirement.

Next I needed a photo that is color dominant and/ or displays a certain mood. My other sub-room mate or Couch Guy volunteered...and yes I made him. I used a gel on one flash and made a snoot out of tin foil on the other flash to illuminate only his eyes.

I was kinda stoked after the shoot because I realized how short of a time it took me to set up and dial my flashes. I feel like I'm finally starting to memorize how my settings need to be in certain situations. Can't wait to keep practicing portraits!

First Snow in Tahoe

Last weekend it finally snowed after 6 months of waiting. The snow mostly accumulated in higher elevations but we got about an inch at lake level. Sine it was dumping on Sunday my roommate Merrick wanted to go jib something. So we set out on a short hike from the top of an access road and found a sweet mountain bike drop. We decided to do save that for Tuesday. We hiked 5 more minutes and he found this janky ass log perched on a rock. The run in was bushes, the landing was bushes, and there was a downed tree right after. Needless to say he slayed it!

Monday a small crew of us drove down to kirkwood where they received a foot and a half. I had plans to get to some mine cabins I had researched but that didnt work out too well. My car just couldnt plow through the snow on road anymore so we parked it and started hiking. Found another log jam option that was so so. The better part was the drive out when we saw an old wooden cattle fence and started sessioning over that.

Then Tuesday we went back and set up the mountain bike drop. So fun but sketchy as hell!

Can't wait til the season officially starts next week!
